Line Pilots. Management Pilots. Our plans call for continued growth and expansion and we are constantly looking for talented individuals to join our team.

AirNow flies only turbine powered aircraft; the Cessna Caravan (C208) and the Embraer Bandeirante (EMB 110). We operate out of over 20 bases, and employ over 40 pilots. For consideration as a line pilot, please call or email Melany Letourneau.

For those of you who aren’t interested in a line pilot’s position, we offer many challenging opportunities in ground and flight instruction. We’re always looking for experienced industry professionals who can provide guidance, leadership and support to our line pilots, on a full or part time basis. For training or management positions contact Steve McClure, Director of Operations, at smcclure@airnow.com

The Job:

AirNow is a cargo only air carrier. Our primary customers include UPS, DHL, and several banking institutions. We operate under FAR Part 135 and most of our flying is done on schedules which are published well in advance. Typically pilots are assigned routes which originate in the evening and terminate at the same base in the morning. After the evening leg, the pilot will be housed for the night in preparation for departure the next morning.

The above description is a very generalized job summary. Actual schedules, duty times, and rest periods will vary from run to run. Often pilots will be required to take on some additional flying, when their schedules permit.

Pilot Hiring Process

The interview process is designed to evaluate your technical skills as well as your "fit" with our company culture.  Pilots will be required to demonstrate excellent airmanship, the ability to make decisions, and all of the other equally important skills necessary to be a professional aviator in an on-demand flight environment.

Outlined below, is a detailed process we use for selecting  employees.

  • Telephone interview
    • Conducted by our Director of Human resources
    • Typically ten minutes in length
    • Opportunity to answer any unresolved questions
    • Upon successful completion, technical interview, sim eval, and panel interview is scheduled.
  • Technical interview
    • Conducted by one of our pilot management staff
    • You will be required to plan an IFR flight under CFR 91
    • Includes questions on applicable regulations, IFR charts, aircraft systems, weather, etc.
  • Simulator Evaluation
    • Conducted by one of our pilot management staff
    • You will be required to demonstrate excellent proficiency with all IFR procedures and aircraft control.
    • Please make sure you are proficient with all Radio navigation to include NDB, VOR, LOC, etc.
  • Panel Interview
    • Conducted by three of our management staff

You should prepare for technical interviews and simulator evaluations by studying the AIM, VFR/IFR charts, systems of aircraft for which you claim experience, Instrument Flying Handbook, etc. We also advise that you prepare for the simulator flight by becoming proficient in some type of airplane simulator or in an actual airplane. Your situational awareness will be heavily scrutinized throughout the evaluation, as well as your decision making and planning skills.

Training:

Training consists of a 4 week program which includes computer based training, company procedures and aircraft systems familiarization. It concludes with a 135 check ride.

We have on staff an FAA flight examiner who will provide an E110 type rating and your ATP, assuming you have passed the ATP written.

Training is conducted in Bennington, Vermont. Housing is provided during your training.  Your pay starts on your first day of training.
